Washington Park, Moss Denver, and a whole lot of flour
I've been doing this long enough to know when a wedding is going to be a stand out, and Jackie and PJ's had the signs from the very beginning. Two families, two cultures, cannolis next to aperol spritz, pizza, and a Latin music dance floor that had zero empty space all night. It was warm and fun and completely them.
We started the afternoon at Washington Park with PJ, and then Jackie arrived and tucked away while I grabbed her bridal portraits. The first look was just the two of them — quiet, unhurried, with private vows before the rest of the day kicked in. One of my favorite things to witness every single time.
Family formals went smoothly (a big, loving crew — lots of laughing between shots), and then the wedding party showed up with full energy. The groomsmen toasted with Modelos. The bridesmaids each carried a single giant peony stem, which I loved — simple and stunning. We got the formal shots, the fun shots, the Penn State group, the Denver crew, the brother-in-law squad — all of it.
Cocktails, speeches, and a dance floor that wouldn't quit
From Washington Park we caravaned over to Moss, which was perfectly set up by the time guests arrived — aperol spritz ready to go, table cards out, the whole room warm and inviting. The ceremony was heartfelt: Jackie's stepdad gave a reading, Matt officiated, and the whole thing felt personal in the best way.
Cocktail hour flowed into dinner, and then we snuck away for golden hour portraits right before the 7:56 sunset — always worth it. Four speeches from the fam had the room laughing and crying in equal measure. Then the special dances in the Edison Room, and after that it was just pure dancing with Curci's cannolis being passed around the dance floor! A perfect night.
The part I'm still thinking about.....
Aprons. Over the wedding dress and suit.
Okay, I have to talk about the pizza moment. Early in the reception, Jackie and PJ put on aprons — over the wedding dress, over the suit — and walked up to make the very first pizzas of the night together. We're talking hands in dough, flour absolutely everywhere, big grins, guests losing it as they watched through the windows. It was chaotic and hilarious and so genuinely them that I couldn't stop smiling behind my camera.
"Flour on a wedding dress. Flour on a suit. Biggest smiles of the night."

That moment said everything about who Jackie and PJ are as a couple — they're not precious about the formal stuff, and they wanted everyone to feel like they were at a party, not a performance. Mission absolutely accomplished.
